Written by Mohamed Shiil

Mogadishu (insidesomalia.org) Hours left for the Somali President Abdullah Yusuf for his nomination of the new Somali Prime Minister who will replace Ali Mohamed Geri, who resigned from office last month.

President Yusuf has his latest consultations with the elders from different clans in Baidoa to pick up his nominee for the post.

Most talked candidates willing to the win for the contest as predicted by many people may come from the Hawiya sub clan of Abgal, a dominant clan in Mogadishu.

Nor Adde, one of the candidates yesterday met with the president to brief his main platform and action plan.

Nor Adde, a resident in the United States and former Somali Police officer arrived in Baidoa yesterday and went straight to the president’s office.

Also, Professor Ali Guimale and Abdirahman Ali Oman, who both belong to Abgal sub clan, are among the candidates.

Almost president Yusuf will put his emphasis on the candidates of his favorite supporters who are mainly residing in Northern part Mogadishu, an old rival of Habar Gidir sub clan of Hawiya..

“Habar Gidir’s only candidate Mohamoud Guled, the interior minister from Suleiman sub clan has less chance such as Nor Added and Professor Guidable” said Mohamed Ali Ahmed, a senior Political analyst based in Mogadishu.

‘The president considers that Habar Gidir, especially the Ayr sub clan is the mastermind of Jihadists led Islamist Insurgents fighting against his government and Ethiopian Troops” he added.

If this perception exists in real terms this could evoke aggravated anger from Habar Gidir and could prolong the hostilities among Habar Gidir and Majeerteen sub clan of Daarood.

Dir clan has it’s candidate, Mahamud Hurre Buba, a senior diplomat, but seem to be unable to convince Somaliland Authorities end their secession from Somali while the president firmly believes that Somali declaration for a separate independent Republic or the break away Somaliland Republic is unlawful.

“Rahanwein clan is satisfied with position of Parliament seem to be assigned separately for them” said Abdi Hussein, a Somali Journalist based in Baidoa.

The clock is ticking and time is approaching and everybody asks who will be the next president? but the only thing people assume to be sure is that the nominee would be from outside of the parliament.

‘The nomination would be firmly based on charismatic, professional and a strong influential figure with respect among the Somali clans enabling to ease the on going crisis and clan Freud” President Yusuf told some of elders recently he met in Baidoa for consultations.
